Blogging Ain’t Dead
I’ve been trying to re-launch my blog since January 2021. I initially started blogging back in 2013 and have had many variations of a blog over the years. From a solo blog (or three) to a blog with friends, you can say that I’ve been in these blogging streets.
My last blog was from 2018-2019 when I was living in Johannesburg, South Africa. I was under a different username back then (R.I.P Trinidadian Love) and decided to rebrand in the beginning of 2019 to Kelsey Dash Marie so I could scale my business as a content creator. It was honestly one of the best decisions I’ve made in my content creation career, because shortly after, my page really took off and I started making money from brand partnerships. Although my content creation career was thriving, I ended my blog because of the name change from Trinidadian Love to Kelsey Dash Marie. I bought my new domain at the end of 2020 and have struggled to get back into blogging. For one, we’ve been in a pandemic for damn near three years, but also I launched a business in 2020 that *really* took off in 2021 which left me feeling burnt out, anxious and overwhelmed. An entire year went by and I didn’t launch my blog – I didn’t even write in my journal, which I consistently did pre-pandemic because it made me feel the most like myself and at peace.
But there’s no better time to start than now.
Anywho – I wanted to start my blog again by saying blogging ain’t dead. As we move into the era of the Metaverse and countless videos of people dancing and pointing at words, I truly believe that humans will crave longer form content again that isn’t just through social media apps. What initially drew me to blogging all those years ago still draws me into blogging today – it’s a digital outlet. My own space on the internet where I can express my thoughts through writing and perhaps build a community while at it.
This time, I want to *finally* be consistent with blogging and see where it goes. I don’t have any major goals with blogging yet, but I would rather enjoy the familiar, yet unfamiliar journey of blogging.
My hopes are that through blogging, I will inspire others to dream big, explore more and express themselves freely through personal style. I will be sharing travel content, my love for fashion and various learning experiences along the way.
So thank you for riding with me, especially if you were a reader back when I was Trinidadian Love.
Xx,
Kelsey-Marie
